Even with being in this industry for 8 years, I struggled to find vendors for my own destination wedding, which was a fairly simple elopement. Five tips from an expert wedding planner

I actually only requested one tip from Francesca, but she obviously is in love with what she does because she shared not one, but FIVE! Here they are:

• ‘Pick a focal area of your reception (think head table or dance floor) and create a design element that draws the eye and is a show stopper! This can be focused on lighting, florals, rentals, or a mix of all three! If you create a main focal piece, it will be the first thing guests see to create a wow-factor, and the rest of the design can still flow but be done on a smaller scale (and to help with budget).
• Opt for specialty linen as a way to tie in a different color or texture within your color palette. This will create a special touch and will add a layer of dimension to your overall design. 
• Don’t be too trendy! Often trendy pieces end up being more costly so stick to your look and vision to create a wedding that’s uniquely you.
• Don’t forget the cake! The cake is often overlooked. More brides are opting for a simple cake with fresh flowers rather than something that can truly make a statement! If you are having a glam wedding, make sure your cake reflects that and flows with the overall feel of the wedding. If the cake design is thought through, it’s one element that won’t be missed!
• Pull it all together with paper! Pull a detail from your invitation suite into your day-of paper items like the menus, or put your custom crest on the dance floor, to bring it all together!
