Im Sorry, What day is it?

Is it just me or does anyone else feel like they’re living the same day over and over again? Quarantine has me wondering if I’m living in some weird version of Groundhog Day. Oh, and also feeling like “I’m sorry, what day is it?” Just me? Otherwise, we’re still just hanging out up in the mountains of New Mexico, but I’m grateful for that!

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO

Walks most days, binging on Netflix (currently New Girl) and lots of snuggling. What’s been on your Netflix list? I’m desperate for some good things to watch! I’ve also lost count of how many times I’ve told Liam to stop climbing on the tables, but #toddlermomlife right? Speaking of, besides having him run his energetic self out in the backyard, we also tried painting with water. While nothing other than climbing or tearing the house apart can keep him occupied for longer than 5 minutes, the painting with water did seem to be a hit! It can be a little bit of a mess, with his utter enjoyment of dumping water everywhere. So I’d definitely suggest to keep the water to a small amount and see how your little one enjoys it! We’re also half and half on the coloring life, sometimes we color, sometimes we eat crayons. What can I say he’s got an appetite. 😉

If you’re up to trying the painting with water, I suggest you grab this pack of brushes. If your toddler is anything like mine, these will somehow mysteriously disappear!

TRYING TO STAY POSITIVE

I definitely have my moments of feeling down and overwhelmed. But I think about all of those who are in way harder of situations. We truly have it so good. My heart goes out to all of those dealing directly with the Covid situation first hand. Be it through battling the virus itself, or the workers who are in the front lines who are in constant state of risk. My heart also aches for all of those who are battling mental illness through this.

I have found it immensely helpful to write down daily gratitudes. This is a practice I started a few years ago. I know it may seem cheesy! But it truly works to help rewire your brain to focus on the good, the silver linings. Any situation in life will have its challenges. Life is truly how you choose to see it. If you’re feeling particularly down, I from the bottom of my heart, encourage you to make an effort each morning or night to write down 5 things from your day that you are grateful for. See how you feel after 30 days of doing this exercise. I truly hope it helps <3
