How to Move Forward in Business During Covid 19

Girl Looking to Move her business forward during covid 19

That’s me up top… looking forward, get it?! Haha. It’s my pleasure to infuse your day with corny humor, so you’re welcome! 😛 On a more serious note, I think we can all agree this time is so. Stinking. Strange. And it’s hard to know exactly what showing up for your business during these times should look like. You feel a responsibility to yourself, your family and the hard work you’ve put into your baby (aka your business) to somehow, some way, keep moving forward. However, if you’re like me, you absolutely do not want to do this in a sleazy feeling way. So my goal today is to explain to you how to move forward in your business during Covid 19. I’m going to give you some suggestions on what you can do to breathe some life in your business and actually feel good about it. (Hint: it has less to do with you and more to do about others!)

How to Move Your Business Forward: What’s a girl to do?

The first thing I want to say is: during this Pandemic, I personally feel that this is not the time to put our main focus on pushing sales. I do feel like there is a proper way to approach sales at this time, but I’m not going to go into that on this particular post. This post is about showing up in our business in a different way to make progress forward. So here are the three things I want to encourage you to do.

  1. One of the best things you can do for your business at this time is to just show up, and do it consistently. What does this look like? It looks like being present on social: posting, engaging, messaging. It looks like building community by being supportive of others. It looks like taking this time for yourself to develop or fine tune a skill. There are SO many free resources out there to learn something new. So set a schedule for yourself and make a commitment to keep showing up.
  2. This second task on your ‘to do list’ is really more of a ‘how’ to show up. I want you to keep in mind that during this time many (may be you included) are scared, anxious and worried. So when you’re showing up for your audiences on whatever platform(s) you choose, I want to encourage you to be a bright, happy light for your community. You don’t have to completely ignore the situation, but breathe some kind of positivity into the world. People use social media to escape their reality, so make it a happy one for them.
  3. The last thing I want you to encourage you to do on your social is to incorporate bringing value to people. Think about what value can you bring to people? Is it making them laugh? Teaching them something? Encouraging them? Inspiring them? What could you share that could help them during this time?

To Sum It up

I know to some it may seem like none of this like is directly growing your business. If you would have told me these things 6 years ago, I wouldn’t have fully understood the power of all this. So let me put it this way. This time of quarantine won’t last forever. Yes, we are living in a time of ‘pause’, but once we hit ‘play’ who do you think will be on their mind? The girl who ‘sits in this pause’ only binge watching Love Is Blind (okayyy, I mean there definitely is Netflix binging happening here 😀 ) or the girl who is present and in front of people? Ever heard of out of sight, out of mind? Don’t be out of sight. Be present. Show up happy for your people and serve them as best you can. In doing this you will be doing more for your business than you could ever imagine.
