I am so excited to be back today featuring the Wingate Place! Formerly known as the Wingate Plantation, this is a STUNNING Charleston wedding venue! A short drive to the Charleston peninsula, the Wingate Place sits on 180 acres with some of the most beautiful ancient oak trees and scenery to fill your wedding day (and wedding photos 😉 ). I had the privilege of speaking with Sarah (who was so incredibly sweet!) and asked her some advice for brides searching for a venue as well as hit on some key points about what truly makes this place special. I hope you find this helpful in your search for the perfect place to host your dream day!
‘The first thing that comes to mind is that we are family owned and operated! Wingate is such a special place for our family, and we are overjoyed that we get to share this place with couples and their guests on such an important day! One of my favorite things is to meet our couples for the first time, typically newly engaged and so giddy about the special season of life ahead! It is so fun for me to walk with them around the property, getting to know them and their story and beginning to dream of what their special day at Wingate will look like!
Fast forward to their wedding day, we are able to reminisce on that first visit and truly see the property transformed into the perfect wedding venue with touches that represent the couple and their journey together. From a ceremony underneath majestic oak trees overlooking the water, to a cocktail hour nestled under a beautiful grove of oaks, to a beautiful reception tent for the dance party of their lives, Wingate Place offers the perfect spot for the most intimate of events to the most elaborate soirees!”
Oh my goodness I read that from Sarah and it made me want my own wedding reception to be held here! lol. This beautiful place to me just embodies regal, classy & southern culture. And personally, I absolutely love being outdoors. To me, nothing is more beautiful on your wedding day than being surrounded God’s creation!
“Wingate Place is an outdoor event venue located on Johns Island. We are located just minutes from the lovely Kiawah and Seabrook Islands and a short drive to the Charleston peninsula. Our venue is family owned and operated… Sits on 180 acres of stunning ponds and gorgeous ancient oak trees. Located on the property is a small farmhouse built in the 1930’s. Currently, this house now serves as our meeting space for brides and planners, but more importantly the bridal dressing suite. The house provides a place for our brides and her maids to spend their morning getting their hair and makeup done before the ceremony! In addition, we also have grooms quarters located on the side of our back pavilion. A place for them to hang out, dress, and patiently wait until they are needed for pictures or ceremony time.”
“My biggest piece of advice for brides as they begin their venue search would be to first make a list of your wedding day priorities. Most important-choose a venue that represents you and your fiancé, your style, your personalities, your life together!
Do you have a large guest count? Make sure you select a venue that has plenty of room to comfortably accommodate your guest count.
Looking to have ceremony and reception at the same venue? Make sure you love all of the location options that are offered!
Want to splurge on a great band, talented photographer, and gorgeous blooms? Choose a venue that fits your overall esthetic and includes a getting ready area, guest restrooms, and of course a big perk like a large reception tent, tables, and chairs!
That way you can allocate those funds towards those big priorities!”
Thank you so much Sarah for taking the time to help bride’s in their search for the perfect Charleston wedding venue! I know first hand wedding planning can be so overwhelming, especially a destination wedding (see mine here!). So every bit helps.
