While putting this styled shoot together in the year of 2020, when the world went haywire and Covid was the culprit of postponing countless weddings, I was excited to showcase that even amidst all the wrong, you could still make your day all right. All it takes is just some small details to make it feel special. With that said, I have been over the moon excited to share these images from this micro wedding styled shoot! I wanted to create a romantic, feminine, yet timeless display of what your micro wedding could be. And of all the wedding venues in lubbock, The Willows Event Center, with its beautifully green garden featuring a Willow Tree made for the most amazing backdrop.
While putting this altogether, the first thing I was on the look out for was the perfect backdrop. And yes out of all the wedding venues in Lubbock, The Willows gardens makes you feel like you were escaping West Texas into a gorgeous green oasis. Perfection is an understatement. Also worth noting that the Willows has special packages just for micro weddings that accommodate up to 60 guests! Most of these types of wedding take place all in the gardens. How stinking awesome is that?
I first began with details of the day. When having a micro wedding or even elopement, y’all, don’t skip having your details photographed! Few though they might be, are so important and help give your day a full story and gallery. And let’s face it, they just make your day feel legit.
You may not think invitations are necessary, but if you’re even having 10 guests, make it feel special and splurge on a few! And don’t forget to order at least one extra and bring it the day of your wedding to have photographed. It seriously is all these little things make it feel so meaningful.
By the header you can probably tell, but I truly believe, all you need is at least one table. One table for 6-8 guests will make your micro wedding feel like a wedding. Have it elaborately set and be sure it gets photographed!)
OK this cake *may* or *may not* be overkill if you’re having 8 guests 😉 But I am all for including some cake! Doesn’t it just like make the whole day official?!
If you really want to take your micro wedding to the next level, I definitely suggest splurging on ONE big item that will make your party a blast. Something like this rad vintage photo booth would be such a fun experience for you and your guests and a true way to go all out for your day!
Schedule plenty of time in the day for some bridal portraits. If you are planning to have a full wedding day in the future, or even a big reception separately on your anniversary, you’ll most likely choose to wear a different dress and have your hair differently-so you definitely want these to be remembered properly. Also this was definitely one of my most favorite parts of the day!
Don’t forget to get a shot of the groom! I meannnnn it is his day too, right?
And just because you aren’t having a large wedding party, doesn’t mean 1) that you can’t have florals and 2) can’t have photos done with them. Even if they’re more casual and not typically what you’re used to seeing for wedding party, get something together!
Of course, the main event is always the bride and groom portraits! Definitely do not skip out on these! A great time to get them in is to either have them done before your ceremony following a first look moment- or after ceremony while your guests snack and mingle before the main course. The beautiful thing about the Willows is you’re able to have your ceremony & dinner event in the gardens, so guests can walk about and enjoy the beautiful view all while you’re taking some photos with your sweetheart.
There ya have it. Simple, but outstandingly gorgeous. It doesn’t take too much to truly make your micro wedding or elopement feel incredibly special. If you’d like to schedule a tour with the Willows Event center, click here!
