There’s something about a Magnolia Plantation wedding in Charleston, SC that just feels like pure romance. Kristin and Cale’s intimate late spring wedding was nothing short of magical. With fewer than 70 guests, every single person in attendance was someone near and dear to them, making their destination wedding feel even more special. It was a day filled with love, laughter, and the kind of joy that makes my job as a wedding photographer an absolute dream.
We started the morning at a charming local Airbnb, where Kristin and her bridesmaids prepped for the day ahead. The energy was light and full of excitement—exactly how a wedding morning should feel! Kristin then got dressed in the sweetest little cottage on the Magnolia Plantation property, the perfect setting for a bride looking for that dreamy, southern charm.
Meanwhile, Cale and his groomsmen were getting ready separately, allowing for a classic wedding tradition—seeing each other for the first time at the ceremony. We captured bridesmaids and groomsmen portraits individually under the sprawling oaks, making the most of the breathtaking Lowcountry scenery.
Magnolia Plantation is known for its undeniable southern romance, and their ceremony location was no exception. Spanish moss swayed gently in the breeze as Kristin walked down the aisle to Cale, the two of them beaming with happiness. Their vows were heartfelt, the kind that make you tear up even when you’re behind the camera. Surrounded by their closest friends and family, they officially became husband and wife in the most beautiful setting.
After the ceremony, we moved into family portraits, then wedding party shots before diving into bride and groom portraits. Since Kristin and Cale opted not to do a first look, we built in golden hour portraits to ensure they had those dreamy, intimate photos together. And let me tell you—golden hour did not disappoint! The two of them were playful, relaxed, and truly soaking in the moment. These sunset portraits are always some of my favorites, giving couples a chance to slow down and really enjoy each other before the reception kicks off.
The reception was a perfect mix of emotional and fun—heartfelt toasts that had everyone teary-eyed followed by dancing that didn’t stop until the very last song. Kristin and Cale truly made the most of every moment, capping off the night with a private last dance, just the two of them, before heading out to their sparkler exit. It was the perfect way to end an already perfect day!
If you’re dreaming of a romantic southern wedding, Magnolia Plantation is an incredible choice. From its stunning oaks to its historic charm, it’s the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable celebration. I’d love to help you capture all the beautiful, candid moments that make your day unique—so let’s chat about your wedding vision!
